nasa Manila Bulletin, May 8 Issue si Gloc-9!
With their eminence and enormous contribution to OPM and Filipino pop culture, who would not be moved by music icons Gloc-9 and Ely Buendia? Knowing this, they utilize their star power to address social issues:
Gloc-9
After his hit “Sirena,” which tackles the struggles of homosexuals in society, comes “Dapat Tama” that aims to remind people to make smart choices come Election Day since their votes would impact the nation long-term.“Pwede nating tignan na ‘yung pipillin natin ngayon ay laging ‘yung situation lang now. Pero kung iisipin po natin, lalo na yung taong may mga anak na, kung iisipin natin yung future nila, siguro mas mag-isip tayo para lang sa mga bata,” he stressed in an interview on “Unang Hirit.”
The Awit Award-winning rapper is known to translate to song what he observes in society.
“Na-realize ko na mas maraming makaka-appreciate, discover, mas marami akong maabot pagka mas may sense (ang kanta ko),” he shared.
This is to clarify that Gloc-9 and his band are not performing in the Rock The Vote show that has been advertised and promoted in the Philippine Daily Inquirer’s May 2 2013 issue. The article is entitled “Pro-Aquino groups to to hold ‘Rock the Vote’ concerts for Team PNoy bets.”
We do not deny entering negotiations with the organizers of Rock The Vote. But as with any of Gloc-9’s shows, we enter negotiations on the premise that none of these shows will endorse or promote a candidate for the coming elections. This is because as part of GMA 7’s Dapat Tama election public service campaign, Gloc-9 has also agreed not to endorse any candidate in the May 2013 elections.
Being part of the Dapat Tama campaign of GMA 7 is something that Gloc-9 and his management have always taken and will continue to take seriously. We apologize to GMA 7 for this confusion, and hope that they understand that this was out of our hands, and that we entered negotiations with the Rock The Vote organizers on the false premise that it would not endorse any candidate.
Again we apologize to GMA 7, and we hope that the Rock The Vote organizers absolve Gloc-9 and his management of any fault in this matter.
Thank you.
